This is a recent work that I painted for a friend. It is a portrait of their husband’s mum who had, sadly, passed away. I always love painting older people because they have so much life and character to be explored, and June was no exception. I actually made my own canvas for this piece out of linen and a wooden frame, and the experience of painting on this was much more flexible than what I’m normally used to.
